Luma and Prato

This past Summer, I had the great opportunity to sit down with Luma’s manager and discuss some of the restaurants main features.  located on Park Avenue, Luma and Prato are excellent choices for the dining enthusiast. When choosing a restaurant, these two are great pick for a multi-coursed dining experience, a quick bite, or even just a cocktail.

Open since 2005, Luma on Park, is considered to be one of the finest restaurants in Central Florida.  One of its great features is its seasonally-influenced menu.  Luma uses fresh, locally sourced produce and proteins that lend themselves to the culinary creativity for which Executive Chef, Brandon McGlamery is known.

These quality ingredients make Luma’s menu unique, ever evolving, and on the cutting edge of the Central Florida food scene.  Like its fresh menu, Luma has kept up its appearance with recent interior renovations, allowing it to remain at the forefront in ambiance, staying in step with the climate of Park Avenue.

Prato, Luma’s sister restaurant, is a rustic Italian restaurant that offers its patrons locally grown and made to order selections.  Prato, however, has a slightly more relaxed, farmhouse-inspired atmosphere, and is a great place to enjoy an appetizer on the patio or indulge in a special occasion meal.  Some of the most celebrated items are its house made meatballs and wood-fired pizzas.   Also, entrees, like fresh seafood, steaks, and handmade pastas are equally as delicious.

Prato’s communal long bar is one of the restaurant’s most innovative features. Italian wine offerings and original cocktails perfectly match the atmosphere and the staff embodies Italian hospitality. Although Prato has only been open since November 2011, it has already recognized for its excellence in New York Magazine, as well as the New York Times.

In short, both Luma and Prato are restaurants not to miss while in Winter Park. Whether you reside here, or are just visiting; they complete the Avenue and pride themselves in providing patrons a sense of community.   At Luma and Prato diners can be social, while enjoying an outstanding, locally-sourced meal.
