Every Saturday I take a stroll down Park Avenue and check out the farmers market. Being one of the better farmers markets in Central Florida, there is a great selection of produce, flowers, and food stands. Also, it’s is a great way to try out some of the local eateries and small businesses. Open until around 1pm it’s a must see while in Winter Park.
One of my favorite aspects of the farmers market is the selection of produce; most of the fruits and vegetables are locally grown. There are many stands where you can get vine ripe tomatoes, while also finding interesting fruits and vegetables that are rare to the area.
In addition to the produce, the variety of flowers is amazing. You have many choices from orchids to greenery, petunias to pansies, which are all vibrant in color and grown by local florists. Currently there are traditional Christmas items such as poinsettias and evergreen wreaths.
Nonetheless, the best aspect, of the Winter Park Farmers Market, is the food. Local eateries and food stands bring there best assortment to the market. Some of the stands offered are crepes, gourmet french fries, and empanadas. Restaurants, such as Hannibal’s of Hannibal Square sell pastries and other small snacks. However, one of the favorites is the fresh kettle corn stand.Winter Park Chamber of Commerce Location: 200 West New England Avenue Winter Park, FL 32789 407.599.3397
